Announcing Q2 2021 GitLab Hackathon Winners

Moving forward, all the Hackathon-related announcements will be primarily posted in our forum. A place where anyone can comment, share thoughts, feedback and easily share on social media.

Another GitLab hackathon is completed, and I would like to begin by celebrating our community contributions! Congratulations to everyone who participated and contributed to GitLab.

This time, we had 135 submitted MRs, from 46 participants across 14 projects such as GitLab, Omnibus, GitLab Development Kit, CNG, Runner, and more. As of today, 98 MRs have been merged, which translates to 72% of the MRs submitted.

To run a more efficient hackathon and tackle issues that have been open for a while or are prioritized, we introduced a point system rewarding people for tackling these issues.

Specifically, we are awarding:

Hackathon prizes

Like past events, everyone who had MRs merged will receive a token of our appreciation for their contribution. This time, 28 contributors had their MRs merged. It is worth mentioning that out of 98 merged MRs, only 15 are not related to or closing an existing issue.

The grand prize will go to Marvin Karegyeya, who had the highest number of points gathered, winning the grand prize for the second time! The last time was in the previous hackathon.

Below is a list of all the contributors for this Hackathon, and you can track all the MRs in the Wider Community Hackathon MRs issue.
