Backup code repository hosted in GitLab.com

Hi.

A complete newbie here!

My team is considering using GitLab.com as our code repository. I’m wondering if it’s possible to do cron-based backups of the repository in GitLab.com or is it only possible with the self-hosted solution? Would I need to go through the following steps:

  1. Setup SSH as described here https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/ssh/
  2. Establish ssh connection to my GitLab account
  3. Create a rake-script as shown here https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/raketasks/backup_restore.html

If this is the way to go then I’m a bit unsure if I need to do “Creating a backup of the GitLab system” as suggested in the 3rd article since I’m just using GitLab.com and not installed GitLab using a Omnibus package, from source, Docker container or on a Kubernetes cluster.

Hi.

I think that since you do not have your own installation, you can do:

git clone --mirror http://gitlab.com/user/p.git

and then compress it

Thanks! This could be something that I could use.
