Can MR External Status Check have Status other than pending or passed?

External Status Checks in Merge Requests

I’ve been looking at External Status Checks in Merge Requests. Can such a check have status other than Pending and Passed? Looking at documentation of REST API at External Status Checks API | GitLab it’s only possible to transition an External Status Check from Pending to Passing.
