Cannot create Merge-Request

Hi,

I’ve added functionality to the gitlab-runner and I would like to contribute it back.
I have cloned the repo to my github account … but now what do I do?
It seems that I can only create issues, not merge requests.

Thanks,

Dennis

Hi Dennis , welcome to the GitLab Community Forum! :tada:

It’s great to hear that you’ve added functionality to the GitLab Runner and want to contribute it back. :handshake: Your contribution is highly appreciated! :bowing_man:

From your question, it seems like you’ve cloned the GitLab Runner repository to your GitHub account. However, to contribute to GitLab Runner, you should fork the repository on GitLab itself, not GitHub.

To Fork the Repository, go to the GitLab Runner repository and click on the “Fork” button at the top right of the page. This will create a copy of the repository under your GitLab account. Now, you can add the functionality you’ve developed to this local copy of the repository. Once you’ve made your changes, you should be able to create a merge request to merge your changes upstream. Let us know if you have any problems!

I recommend reading the GitLab Runner’s contribution guidelines and the GitLab Runner development guide for more details on how to set up your development environment and contribute to the project.

I hope this helps! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Happy coding! :rocket:

Thanks for the help.

I was able to open a merge request:
