Can't Open the signin page. It keeps showing: Checking your browser before accessing gitlab.com

Bingo. Fedora 35 user here, and this was driving me mad. This still seems a bit strange, because I use many sites that stick me on a Cloudflare “checking your browser…” screen for a second, but GitLab was the only one that doesn’t get through without disabling the Fedora user agent extension.

I’m unfamiliar personally with setting up the Cloudflare service, but assuming it has some configuration available rather than just being a service that is either on or off, maybe it needs to be slightly more permissive? I’m pretty sure all this browser extension does is stick the Fedora version into the user agent.

Guys, check what software is on your computer.

I had the exact same problem as described in this thread. I logically realized that Avast AntiTrack Premium installed on my computer was the reason.

I also suffered from this issue when attempting to login to my Gitlab account using the Firefox-derived GNU IceCat browser. I had fingerprinting disabled but this was not enough. I also had to change the user agent from “Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:91.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/91.0” to “Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:83.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/83.0”, which is ridiculous. See: "Checking your browser" hangs due to user agent, prevents sign in (#345328) · Issues · GitLab.org / GitLab · GitLab.

This may sound silly, but using chrome on android, it was looping on the cloudflare check when “desktop mode” was enabled.
With just disabling it, log in worked fine again!
Someone should check security doesnt break anything!

I have a problem with the authoring, the validation doesn’t work on all browsers on MacOS, also checked on Android. The same problem.
