Changed gitlab-url does not take effect

I have edited the instance /etc/gitlab/gitlab.rb file to specify

external_url “https://gitlab.company.net

followed by
gitlab-ctl reconfigure
gitlab-ctl reset

Regardless, whenever using the gitlab web UI to clone a repo, the supplied url still contains the Docker instance name instead of the desired public url, ie

git@synology-gitlab-ce:common/firmware/CommonFirmware.git
instead of
git@gitlab.company.net:common/firmware/CommonFirmware.git

Further research indicated to invalidate the markdown cache using the administrator command

curl --request PUT --header “PRIVATE-TOKEN: <my_admin_account_access_token>” “https://gitlab.company.net/api/v4/application/settings?local_markdown_version=6

Where, I bumped the local markdown version to 6 and used my admin access token. Then I reconfigured and restarted the gitlab instance. Then I rebooted the Synology server.

All of this to no avail. The symtom remains:

Whenever using the gitlab web UI to clone a repo, the supplied url still contains the Docker instance name instead of the desired public url.

I would greatly appreciate guidance to resolve this issue.

Just to close this topic out: I had not properly uncommented the line

external_url “https://gitlab.company.net

within /etc/gitlab/gitlab.rb. Once that was corrected and the instance reconfigured and reset, it worked as expected.
