Error Message

Hello, I am new to Centos 8 and GitLab - learning on my own. I have used the link above to install GitLab and this url:http://gitlab-ce-01.centlinux.com/, as suggested by the author, and getting this error message: "Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site.

We can’t connect to the server at gitlab-ce-01.centlinux.com.

If that address is correct, here are three other things you can try:

Try again later.
Check your network connection.
If you are connected but behind a firewall, check that Firefox has permission to access the Web."

I would appreciate any help from anybody.

Thanks,
Dave

That is because centlinux is his domain. Unless you own it you cannot use it. You should be using your domain name here or IP address of your server. His howto is just an example using his domain name.

Thanks do much, Ian - that makes a lot of sense.

I don’t have a domain name, could i use the inet localhost number?

Thanks,
Dave

Locahost will only work if gitlab is on the same machine as the one you are accessing from. Use the IP address then it will be accessible from other computers.

I used the IP for localhost and ran the gitlab-ctl reconfigure, but getting an error. Do i have to use a port # after the IP address: ex 0.0.0.0: 1111?
Thanks,
D

Sorry, not error message but failed

Thanks
