Excessive Postgres processes after update to Gitlab-ee 14.2.3

Seeing 40+ processes for Postgres on test instance that has the latest version of Gitlab. Production instance running version from 1 month ago does not have this issue.

postgres: gitlab gitlabhq_production [local] idle

The server instance (EC2) seems to have enough processor/memory, but any idea why I’m seeing this many Postgres processes is appreciated. Thanks.

I have more on my production instance, works perfectly fine. I don’t think it’s anything to worry about:

root@gitlab:~# dpkg -l | grep -i gitlab-ce
ii gitlab-ce 14.2.3-ce.0 amd64 GitLab Community Edition (including NGINX, Postgres, Redis)
root@gitlab:~# ps aux | grep -ic postgres

could be for performance reasons to relieve bottlenecks for access to postgres via connections, etc. Never checked it before, so no idea what it was like in 12.x or 13.x. Had no reason to check it, since everything works.

Hmm, that’s the same number that I have running as well. No performance issues, just wondering why postgres needs so many processes. Thanks for your help.
