GitLab Pages with Jekyll remote_theme: not working

Hi,

I’m trying to get Jekyll’s remote_theme: working in GitLab Pages. My Pages work if using theme: in the _config.yml, but I am at a loss as to why the theme is not taking effect when using remote_theme:.

Below is my _config.yml and wondering if anyone else has been able to get remote theme’s working or has thoughts? Is GitLab doing something different from GitHub on this?
