Help with the Web-UI: "This action is not allowed unless you are on a branch"

Problem to solve

I want to do a little modification on a project which is not mine, so I don’t want to get Git for that, Web-UI should be enough.

At some point, it tells This action is not allowed unless you are on a branch, and I don’t see what I should do to avoid that.

Steps to reproduce

  1. I’m starting from there: docs/website/faq.md · 3.3.0 · GNOME / TinySPARQL · GitLab
  2. I click on Edit / Edit a single file (blue, on a pink background).
  3. I click on Bifurcation (white, on a pink background).
  4. I get the banner This action is not allowed unless you are on a branch (on a blue background).

Workaround

I can click on Edit / Open in Web IDE (instead of Edit / Edit a single file), then it works.
