Infinite check browser loop on sign in page in tor browser 12.0.1

I am unable to login to my account at https://gitlab.com/users/sign_in because there is an infinite checking your browser page. I have disabled ublock origin and noscript and allowed it to use HTML5 canvas image data and set cookies with both the addons disabled and the page still loops. What do I need to do in order to login to my account with Tor Browser? To be clear, the page in question is:

Checking your browser before accessing gitlab.com.

This process is automatic. Your browser will redirect to your requested content shortly.

Please allow up to 5 seconds…

I am experiencing this with Tor Browser 12.0.1 (based on Mozilla Firefox 102.6.0esr) (64-bit).

The response to Login to GitLab impossible with Tor Browser said to make a ticket via https://support.gitlab.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000803379 but despite me selecting free account, the response I got was that it was only for users with a subscription. I can’t file a bug in the gitlab issue tracker because I can’t login because of this issue.

Yes, it’s unfortunate that free users get treated this way when they cannot login - especially when the Cloudflare settings that Gitlab have chosen cause issues. That particular category should be addressed by the Gitlab team for free members as well as paid - since being able to login is a fundamental function for everyone. However, a lot of this is because of the Cloudflare/TOR issue, had you not been using Tor, you would be able to login without any problems at all.

Whilst Cloudflare do supposedly support Tor use, unfortunately you may be on an IP range that either hasn’t been recognised as such, or has been blocked for some reason hence all the issues.

Unfortunately community members cannot help with that as we have no control over the Cloudflare configuration. Thus we can only hope one of the Gitlab Team will see this and be able to help out. For the time being, perhaps it’s best just not to use Tor? (and I understand why people use it, so maybe in their eyes not ideal, but at least you’d be able to login, etc).
