Keeping 2 alive gitlab-ee instances for testing backup/restore procedure

Hi everybody,

I would like to run an automatic procedure capable to backup gitlab-ee edition and test the restore procedure on another instance in order to be sure that everything works fine in the eventuality of a real failure scenario.

I would like to ask the following questions:

  1. Are there any issues to keep 2 alive instances, one licensed and the other one unlicensed, at the same time?
  2. If I restore my licensed gitlab-ee onto another unlicensed instance, can it invalidate the restore? Or, worst scenario, can it invalidate the real licensed instance?
  3. Does the restoring procedure preserve the license or we should follow another procedure to reinstall the license?
  4. Where are license info stored?
