I’m doing search about the log4j2 vulnerability. I just got surprised by a strange behavior so I wanted to report it here. If I do a search from the root in gitlab with “log4j2” I get no hit, but if I search from a group, I get many. The behavior is not the same if the token is “log4j”. So it seems a search token ending with a number is ignored if run from the root.
If by “searching from root” you mean searching directly from the top bar, while not in any particular project/group, then this is intended behavior. Gitlab CE does not have advanced search functions enabled, and as such it is not possible to search globally into all repositories (projects/groups).
