Secure delete of Code repo but not Issues

Hope this is the right place for this.

I have an associate that needs to secure delete a repository in CE/EE, however I would like to retain the issues and history of the repo for legal purposes. i.e. ensure access to the Code itself is impossible but tracking is kept. Diffs are usually not useful so those I don’t think would be an issue.

Is this possible? If not how would one go about doing a secure delete of the repo? I’ll still be trying out CE/EE for other projects so can’t just manually remove GitLab.

Thank you kindly.

Hi @Martii and welcome to our forums

If I understand correctly that you want to ONLY but COMPLETELY remove the repo from your project, I would probably use our two "urge "instructions (or older version with BFG).

Instead of focussing on large files though, use --strip-blobs-bigger-than 1B and create 1 new README.md file afterwards with some notes about the process.

Please keep a different local copy of the original, though, and/or a Project Export.

Hope this helps
