Seeing Namespace route path USERNAME has been taken before. Please use another one when editing username back to original

Hi,

Wondered if anyone could help?

So we wanted to change a users username and release we did it wrong and wanted to revert back (long story) but when we do we always get the following:

The form contains the following errors:

Namespace route path USERNAME has been taken before. Please use another one
Namespace route is invalid
Namespace path USERNAMEhas been taken before. Please use another one

Anyway this can be done? Bit stump why this message appears when doing so.

Running into a similar issue when trying to revert a previous changed username (now containing uppercase) back to an all-lowercase string. (username > UserName (success) > username (fails))

Username change failed - Username has been taken before

The FAQ regarding usernames is not being helpful on this. Because nothing is mentioned if any restriction should apply when changing only between upper/lower-cases in account usernames.

Curious - did you ever get to change your username back to the all-lowercase version? I found a couple others with the same issue/annoyance, but it doesn’t look like there’s been any progress.
