The new Gitlab 8.0 with CI integrated may not work for our current setup that well, so my question will be if I upgrade Gitlab to 8.0+, moving forward can I keep using Gitlab CI 7.14.X with Gitlab 8.0?

I don’t think that would be possible. I created an issue to document this and asked Kamil the maintainer of CI to respond.
