Greetings. I upgraded our gitlab-omnibus installation from 8.6 to 9.0 last Thursday, March 30. Since then, my backups are not the same as I have come to expect, in the .tar format in the backup directory specified in the gitlab.rb. (Nor do they match the documentation online)
After the upgrade, instead of “gitlab:backup:create” tarring everything into a single .tar and putting the file nightly in the directory, “/opt/gitlab/bin/gitlab-rake gitlab:backup:create” creates the two subdirectories titled “db” and “repositories” with db containing ONLY the zipped database.sql.gz.
The earlier versions created these directories, and also tarred up the additional:
uploads.tar.gz, builds.tar.gz, artifacts.tar.gz, lfs.tar.gz, and the backup_information.yml
Can someone point me on troubleshooting why this is happening, and how I can get a valid update?
