Gitlab external_url parameter

Hello,

I have a gitlab 11.2.3 running on debian.
Currently I have this setting :
external_url ‘https://gitlab.domain.fr/gitlab’

But if I set
external_url ‘https://gitlab.domain.fr/’

and run gitlab-ctl reconfigure

and try to rich the URL I got a 404.

Any idea on what is wrong here ?

I got the answer :
gitlab-ctl restart

Is needed.
