I would like to be able to work on a feature branch in isolation, with linear history, while still using MRs to review & merge into the feature branch - and then merge that whole chunk into our main branch using a merge commit.
This would allow for easier history inspection, and reduce the amount of merge commits in the history.
It would also reduce the number of unnecessary rebases in the workflow (required by the
Fast-forward merges only. option).
I haven’t found an option for this in GitLab yet - is it possible?
