Reasons not to use recommended Ubuntu 16.04?

Hi All,

My organization is looking to use GitLab Enterprise Edition. My colleague is leaning to Oracle Linux because we can later get a support contract if needed. However, I’m thinking Ubuntu 16.04 might be best as it’s recommended and likely has greatest mindshare. I don’t think we’ll need OS support as this is small-scale & internal facing and we’ll also get some GitLab support through EE. What do you think?

Also if we do go Oracle Linux - SELinux doesn’t seem necessary for this use case does it? It’s caused a few issues in our sandbox use so far and although there are fixes I’m wondering if we need it given the purpose of this box.

Thanks,
Josh Morel
