Self-managed: Store nuget/npm packages in different location?

We’re thinking about using our existing Gitlab instance as a package registry for NuGet and NPM packages. Unfortunately the server Gitlab is on already has lots of storage which is still being filled up periodically, so we’re trying to save on more storage capacities on the same server.

is there a good way of setting up Gitlab to store packages on another server or in an external database?
