Why can we not see Child Issues on the Issue Board?

Problem to solve

For a short period of time, the New Look option allowed for Child Issues to be visible on the Issue Boards. Since we updated to 17.11, this has been stripped away

  • We can see Parent Issues, or solo Issues, but not Child Issues

Steps to reproduce

Create an Issue, create a Child Issue. Assign/add both Issues to an Issue Board.
Only the Parent Issue will be visible on the Board

Hi, I got the same problem in our self managed instance (version 18.0.0). It will be nice to have at least an option in issue board to display this type of issue.
When we think about it, in a Scrum board we could have a main issue splitted in children. These children can be dispatched in different sprint. Thus it make sense to be able to display them in the current issue board.

Hi @gervais.marc , I think I figured out why this is not working:
A child issue is in fact a “task” type, not an issue type, that is why it is not displayed in “issue” board.
One solution on gitlab side could be to follow the parent type
