Is it possible to integrate Azure AD with gitlab.com (not self-hosted). All documentation, even those that I got from contacting live support, was giving instructions to edit gitlab.rm or gitlab.yml file, which is only available in self-hosted.

Did you check SAML SSO for GitLab .com groups and SCIM provisioning using SAML SSO for GitLab .com groups? You can use Azure AD and Okta or other SAML 2.0 providers as IdP.

Both features require .com Silver or a higher tier (meaning Gold as of 2020-06).
