Is it possible to hide or disable editing features in the web base User interface for gitlab. Its a nice feature but it lends itself to developers making changes before validating their code.

Would have thought it to be a simple configuration entry, and a minor change to the UI rendering,

Have the same problem.
It would be nice if there was a maintenance mode that could be activated via the GUI. Or is there the feature and I missed something?
The mode should disable the frontend and pushes to repositories.
