Documentation functionality in GITLAB

GITLAB claims to be an IDE. But is this reality? I want to talk about documentation. Not the GITLAB documentation, but about project documentation. E.g Requirements, Specifications, Design, and so on. These documents a the start of a Development cycle.

GITLAB doesn’t talk about this. It doesn’t provide a possibility to store (e.g. in Word) this kind of documentation. The only documentation functionality is a WIKI. From an End User perspective, this is very limited.

My question is, is, my point of view wrong?
