Does not work Ai code suggestions in Visual Studio 2022

Hello,

I am currently using the Free Trial to evaluate GitLab Duo for my company, but I am encountering issues and need assistance.

Problem: When using the GitLab Duo Code Suggestion feature through the GitLab Extension in Visual Studio 2022, the GitLab icon briefly activates in the bottom right corner of the IDE, indicating progress, but eventually, a message appears at the top of the IDE stating: “Invalid access token. To continue using code suggestions from GitLab, update your token. Open Settings” and the feature does not work.

Detail Info:

  1. The environment I am using is a Closed Network, and we have allowed the proxy for the following three URL groups to use GitLab Duo:
  1. The version of Visual Studio 2022 is Professional 2022 (version 17.11.4).
  2. The version of the GitLab Extension is the latest version.
  3. Even when testing with Visual Studio Code, the Code Suggestion feature does not work. (Duo Chat was working very well before. It is not working now. How can I change the GitLab account in VS Code? Also, how do I use the HealthCheck feature?)
  4. When logging into the GitLab Web UI, the Ultimate Trial for 30 days is activated.
  5. I went to Group - GitLab Duo settings, assigned a GitLab Duo Seat to my account, and turned on the GitLab Duo feature. (However, the popup message “Subscription unavailable, Your current subscription cannot be displayed at the moment. Please refresh the page to try again.” does not disappear. Why does this message appear even though I am a Free Trial user with GitLab Duo activated?)
  6. In my profile settings - AccessToken, I created a Personal AccessToken with all permissions granted.
  7. I entered the created Personal AccessToken in the GitLab Duo settings in Visual Studio 2022 and also entered the GitLab URL. (In my case, should I enter http://gitlab.com/myId1234 or http://gitlab.com/? Neither works.)
  8. Shortly after entering, the GitLab Duo icon activates, but after a while, the “Invalid Access token” message appears at the top of the IDE, and it does not work.
  9. Please help me resolve my issue.
Old suggestion

I think the follow-up problems with Code Suggestions are maybe related to missing subscriptions in this step. Can you try the following:

  1. Review more troubleshooting steps: Control GitLab Duo availability | GitLab

Edit: I asked internally and learned that an Ultimate trial + Duo trial cannot be activated on a self-managed instance at the moment. I’d suggest reaching out to our sales team (filling the form here) and stay updated, or get suggestions on alternatives.
