Is it possible to have git_data_dirs on S3 object storage?

Running GitLab CE 13.6-1 on Ubuntu EC2. I know object storage can be used for LFS, packages, etc.

The question is can S3 type object storage be used for the default repository directory git_data_dirs?

Has anyone tried to make it work?
