- GitLab forum always rejects username & password credentials authentication for my account. I can only login via GitHub. I’ve already tried the password reset form, no change in behavior.
- In the main GitLab UI, poor color contrast for read vs. unread items in the What’s New list.
- I never want in-app notifications unless I explicitly opt into them. That includes marketing material like What’s New. I don’t want in-app badges for What’s New. Too many distractions. I would very much like an account level setting to permanently hide such UI elements.
What’s New can be disabled - go to Admin → Settings → Preferences → What’s New and then set the option to disable it. As shown below:
forum.gitlab.com (Discourse) uses a different backend than gitlab.com (GitLab) and does not share auth credentials. As such, it requires 2 separate user/password credentials. Alternative login options are OAuth on the right.
