I just installed Gitlab on PI too and noticed this with the standard installation method.
But wouldnt it be possible to use this version?
https://packages.gitlab.com/gitlab/raspberry-pi2/packages/debian/jessie/gitlab-ce_8.11.5-ce.0_armhf.deb
Or does this need full Debian on the pi?
I’m pretty new to all the Linux stuff though.
This morning I took a closer look at this forum and found a link to this issue:

So looks I was on the right path:

But it looks like they want to duplicate the packages for raspbian in the future again, issue is still open.
