Hi
We are planning to migrate our source-code repository to gitlab, i have started exploring gitlab-ce by doing the setup and creating users and groups, just wanted to difference in feature wise compared to gitlab-ce and gitlab-ee, is all the features of gitlab-ce and gitlab-ee are identical?, becuase this would help us in selecting right version for our product.
Thanks
Saikrishna
Hi,
yes, CE is used as core for EE while it adds more features on top. You can find the comparison chart over here: https://about.gitlab.com/pricing/self-managed/feature-comparison/
Depending on your needs, the most notable enhancements are:
- Multiple LDAP servers, LDAP group import
- Search backend with Elasticsearch, additional HA capabilities
- Dependency Scanning, Audit logs
- Merge Request Review Approvals, Issue Relations
- Burndown charts
- Epics, manage group of issues over many projects
(Notes taken from our GitLab trainings)
Cheers,
Michael
Hi
Thanks for the reply, So git-lab CE is only a core with set of features, like if we want to intergate gitlab with jira, and integration with jenkins, merge apprrovals , we need to take licence for gitlab premium.please clarify
Thanks
Saikrishna
Hi,
yep, that’s what I would say reading the feature comparison chart. Depending on your needs, you’d need to apply for a different license level then too.

Michael

Hi,
you mean on gitlab.com as SaaS offering? On there, users need to register themselves and you invite and assign them into groups where you put the projects into. So the first task will be to create a group where you add your projects, then add the users to the groups.
In contrast to that, with an on-prem installation by yourself, the initial setup account will be the root user which allows users handling by yourself.
Cheers,
Michael
Hi
Yes iam trying out saas offering, thanks for reply.
