How to embed asciinema player in GitLab Flavored Markdown?

Is there a way to embed the asciinema player in a GitLab Flavored Markdown file?

I can embed a screenshot that opens a new tab to the recording on asciinema.org, but I can’t figure out how be able to play the recording when viewing the markdown file on GitLab.

These are embedding docs: Sharing & embedding - asciinema

They show you can embed the player itself, but I haven’t been able to get it to work in a markdown file.

GitLab Flavored Markdown offers support for embedding Videos and Images but it can’t be used to add executable javascript inside <script> tags to a page (for security reasons).

Your best bet would be to embed an image link that people can click to go to the asciinema URL to view the recording.
