Hey everyone
I’m currently building Appairium, a search engine designed to help professionals find the right SaaS tools based on their actual business needs — no ads, no biased rankings, just relevance. It’s mostly focused on B2B use cases, with affiliate-based monetization and an internal matching algorithm.
The platform is already live and gaining traction among early users and SaaS founders. But I’ve been wondering lately…
Would it make sense to open-source (part of) Appairium?
Some thoughts:
- The core value is in the matching algo + curated SaaS database
- Transparency could reinforce our “impartial by design” positioning
- Might attract contributors or use cases I hadn’t thought of (white-label, integrations, etc.)
But on the other hand:
- I’m not sure what to open exactly (frontend? algo? API layer?)
- Not sure it helps on the business side short-term
Curious to get your take:
Have you open-sourced a SaaS-related project? Was it worth it?
Would love to hear pros/cons before making a move.
