My private Gitlab account suddenly has a random issues created, could someone have broken into my private repository?

Most likely you created a project using the template and so it filled it with random issues, etc. Otherwise you need to explain and provide a lot more detail than your initial post on exactly where the issues are, what project it is, how you created the project if it is new and what options were chosen, etc.

If you feel your account has been compromised, then normally the first thing you would do is change your password and make sure it is secured. Did you already do that, or not thought of that yet?
