Old gitlab move to new site

Hi!

I have a quite old installation of gitlab and have decided I want to move to the latest version.

Is there a guide on how to backup everything and restore it to a new isntance with a newer version installed, or is this method of upgrading not supported?
Do I need to upgrade every version step by hand?

I am using a Bitnami image for gitab right now and thought that I should now install it myself instead.

Any ideas or pointers are appreciated

Depends on how old your instance is, but there may be some manual steps that have to be taken when upgrading. Be sure to do a backup as well, just in case. In order to migrate from one instance to another or even backup from old and restore backup to new instance requires that they be on the same version.
