"Something went wrong. Please try again." when trying to log in

When logging into gitlab.com, after entering my username and password I get

For added security, you’ll need to verify your identity. We’ve sent a verification code to…

After entering the 6 digit code from the email, it simply says

Something went wrong. Please try again.

If I try to log in via my GitHub account, I get

422: Sign-in using GitHub auth failed If you are unable to sign in or recover your password, contact a GitLab administrator.

It doesn’t always happen, but only sometimes. But it’s very frustrating when it does happen, because it’ll sometimes last days.

same here, it tries to send email to some *****@.local !!!
it should use the oauth, but it seems like tries to connect to github oauth like email address
for this forum same auth worked well
if i revoke access for this app - nothing changes, but it should really in case of somnething went wrong
it s possible that for the first time i’ve pressed “sign in” without registering account before and then it takes the wrong email check

When it finally did work again, I went to https://gitlab.com/-/profile/account and connected my GitLab account to my GitHub account. I’ve been using “sign in via GitHub” since then and, so far, no problems anymore. :crossed_fingers:
