Wiki and issues as git repo

Hello!

Would be nice to see an option to store wiki pages and issues as main git repo branches (‘wiki’ and ‘issues’ branches) it would make easy to backup / port git repo without loosing any issues. Also cross references would make much more sense referring issue by number in commit message and vice versa.

The wikipages are already stored in a git repo, you should be able to clone it from the top wikipage (“home”) by clicking the three dots button at the top right and selecting “Clone repository”.

However for the gitlab issues I have not been able to find something like this and I agree that having the issues stored as plain text files in a git repo would be very valuable as well. Are there any gitlab devs here that could comment if it’s feasible to support this request?

I’m taking about having Wiki as a main repo branch. So it could just take one clone command to make full backup wiki + issues + source. And will let keep issues and sources code once togeter.

I see how that can be useful as well. To me the main feature would be to have issues version controlled in git at all. If it’s in the same or different repository as the wiki pages doesn’t matter for me.
