An error occurred fetching the approval rules

Describe your question in as much detail as possible:

When i go to

Projects => Settings => Merge Requests

the will be a red note shown at the head wirh content

An error occurred fetching the approval rules.

Its not possible to Change Approval Rules because the “Waiting Wheel” will never stop. When i examine the page load i see:

https://ourgitlab.url/api/v4/projects/xx/approval_rules

=> {“message”:“403 Forbidden”}

Also if i use a admin account

This will happen for all Projects. Also we can’t create new merge requests because there also will happen a “An error occured fetching the approval rules”

  • What are you seeing, and how does that differ from what you expect to see?

I should see the approval Rules and not the error notification.

We have the same problem now on 16.2.1 - did you ever find a solution?

having same issue on 16.2.4. All the other pages I’m seeing indicate it’s been fixed over and over, but obviously not.
