Authenticator app lost. How to reset two-factor authentication?

I have an account in gitlab. I enabled two-factor authentication with Google Authenticator app on my last phone. But now this phone is lost and so is the app. And because of this I can’t log in into my account. There is no option to reset it or request help from gitlab support. So what should I do?

Hi,

  1. Do you have backed up recovery keys? You should be able to use them to recover your account.

  2. If you don’t have recovery keys… Do you have any ssh keys setup and available? You can use them to generate new recovery keys: Troubleshooting two-factor authentication | GitLab Docs

If you don’t have any ssh keys configured, and you’re not on paid subscription… then you have unfortunately lost your account.
