Import or Restore a CE backup to EE same version

Hello

Is there any published methodology for moving data from a CE server backup to a (different) EE server?

I have a good backup from a CE server 8.9.6 and a new EE 8.9.6 on a different host

The restore process considers them different versions so won’t run.

Is there a simple way to do this?

Hi,

You can do this by following the steps below:

  1. Downgrade the new EE to CE by following this guide: http://docs.gitlab.com/ee/downgrade_ee_to_ce/README.html.

    • NB: Make sure you downgrade to the same exact version as the CE version of your production server

  2. You can then upgrade the ‘non-live’ CE server that contains the backed up data to EE by following the steps outlined here: http://docs.gitlab.com/omnibus/update/README.html#from-community-edition-to-enterprise-edition
