Can't find group permission

Problem to solve

I have created a group and moved my projects there.
Now, when I’m going inside a repository in this group to Settings > Access Tokens, I see this:

Project access token creation is disabled in this group. You can enable project access token creation in group settings

In help there is a straitforward explanation how to change this permission:

But when I go to Group > Settings > General and expand Permissions and group features I see this:

So there is nothing about access tokens. I even used search on the top of the page - nothing.

I’m using

Seriously, not feedback for a week??

It’s clear in the documentation:

So I’m guessing you are a free user, means it’s not available to you on gitlab.com. If you want it, buy a subscription, or run your own Gitlab server then you can have group access tokens for free.

Also, even clear in the project access token documentation that you linked:

Again, no tokens for free.

What do you expect? If you want priority support then pay for it. Had you read the documentation properly in the first place, you would have already had the answer since it’s been there all the time. Dear @iwalker,

First and foremost, I want to extend my sincere gratitude for taking the time to read my post and for providing your thoughtful comments. I assure you, there is no sarcasm in my words—I genuinely appreciate your engagement.

You were correct in your assumption that I am currently using the free tier, and indeed, I am aware that group tokens are not available under this plan. However, my inquiry was not about adding a group token, but rather about the ability to add a project token.

Originally, my project was hosted under my personal account, where I had the ability to add project tokens without issue. However, after transferring the project to a group, I found myself unable to add project tokens, which is where the confusion arises.

The documentation suggests that it is possible to modify permissions to allow the addition of project-level tokens, yet I am unable to do so. If this feature is indeed restricted on the free tier, I fully accept that. However, if it is not, this discrepancy is precisely why I submitted feedback regarding the documentation.

I acknowledge that my initial post may not have been as clear as it could have been, and for that, I apologize. Nevertheless, I would like to bring this issue to light, in the hope that either the documentation can be updated for clarity or that someone can point out where this information is provided, should I have overlooked it.

Thank you once again for your assistance.

Best regards,
Alexander

The way I read the documentation it says project tokens aren’t possible. I don’t use gitlab.com so cannot verify that. I run my own Gitlab server, which allows me to use both group and project tokens. Why it’s limited on gitlab.com I have no idea, I guess they have their reasons…
