Can't get reset email for password

I have created a new account, however, I have lost its password.
When i try to reset my password by sending a reset link to my email adress, nothing happens.
I have heard of others having the same problem but they did not seem to know a solution either.

is your problem related to the public GitLab server or to a self-hosted instance?
